JANUARY'S ASTROLOGICAL TRENDS

We begin our New Year with the Sun and Moon in Capricorn at midnight on January 1^st. Capricorn is the sign associated with determination, wisdom and practicality. This is the perfect time to write out your ambitions for 2006. Venus the planet of love and affinities is conjunct the Moon favoring tradition, old friends and simplicity. Venus is moving in retrograde motion through Capricorn all month, providing us with the desire to get financial and relationship matters in order so that we can better manifest goals and objectives.

The week of January 2—8^th finds many of the planets moving through the realistic earth signs with energetic Mars providing the thrust to achieve and accomplish all month. Mercury enters Capricorn on Tuesday the 3^rd lending greater pragmatism to communications and thinking. This is a good week for business of every kind with the Sun in favorable aspect to expansive Jupiter.

The week of January 9^th—15^th again carries the strong emphasis on practicality and productivity with communications and contractual matters highlighted. Mercury’s drive toward Jupiter and Mars on Friday provides the vision and energy to tackle demanding or extensive projects without feeling overwhelmed. The Cancer Full Moon on Saturday morning at 2:48 am MST favors hanging out at home for some serious nesting or redecorating activities.

The week of January 16^th –22^nd finally completes the opposition of Mars and Jupiter. This impatient dynamic has pitted force and judgment against one another for weeks. The approaching square of Mars to illusory Neptune on Wednesday of this week may continue the theme for awhile longer. This Mars / Neptune energy is best used for creating something of beauty rather than animosity. The Mercury / Venus conjunction midweek favors catching up with old friends and favored projects. On Thursday January 19th at 10:15 Pm MST the Sun moves into the pioneering sign of Aquarius. This is an intellectual sign that enjoys personal freedom. On Sunday, Mercury will also enter Aquarius, promoting greater objectivity and futuristic orientation.

The week of January 23^rd—29^th enters with a favorable aspect between the planets of love and desire, Venus and Mars. In the sensual and sensible earth signs this combo favors the establishment of productive partnerships as well as a romantic evening on the town. The cosmic tension of the innovative Aquarian Sun and Mercury facing off with Saturn, the planet of limitations and structure in opinionated Leo, increases as the week progresses with the aspect becoming exact on Friday. This combination of planetary energies can support realistic assessment and workability of creative ideas and projects or accentuate rigidity. The Chinese New Year and the Aquarius New Moon occur on Sunday January 29^th at 7:15 Am MST. This is the perfect time to be with friends and honor the companionship they provide as we pursue our dreams and visions for the future together.

The last two days of the month, January 30^th and 31^st, find Mercury approaching Neptune and Jupiter while the Moon travels through Pisces, reminding us that in order to think clearly we must at times allow our mind time to drift and dream. Read a good book, see an inspiring movie, or go for a long walk with a friend, R and R is important. By Thursday, February 2^nd you will feel refreshed and ready to move into higher gear.
