FEBRUARY'S ASTROLOGICAL TRENDS
by Ingrid Jeffries

February opens with the lively Leo Moon Full Moon opposing the Sun, Chiron and Pallas in Aquarius emphasizing the need to 'do your own thing'. In the evening sky we can now see Saturn and the star Regulus near this Full Moon.

Mercury enters sensitive Pisces on the 2nd, infusing Candlemas celebrations with greater attunement to subtle Divine messages. Mercury in Pisces can be very inspired and romantic, enjoying soft music, old-fashioned cheek to cheek dancing and date movies.

SUCCESSFUL MAGICK
 by Karen Charboneau-Harrison

Here at Isis Books and Gifts we often receive emails with questions regarding all kinds of spiritual and magickal matters. Here's one which we feel many of you out there would like to ask:

Question: Why don't all of my spells work? I'm not exactly a beginner and I think I know what I'm doing, but sometimes my spells work right away, sometimes they take a while and sometimes they never happen. Am I doing something wrong?

Answer: Spell work can be a tricky business and there could be several reasons why a spell doesn't work. I'm assuming that you are planning your rituals by the moon phase and doing them on the correct planetary day, using the right candle colors, herbs, oils and all that. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

IMBOLC
by Karen Charboneua-Harrison, from The Witch's Well Sabbats Archive

IMBOLC (also called Oimelc, Candlemas, Feast of Lights, Imbolg and Brigit's Day) is a time of purification and a celebration of the continued growth of Light. In our pastoral and agrarian past, it was the time that the ewes were giving birth to the new lambs and two of this festival's names show this connection. Imbolc or Imbolg means 'in the belly' and Oimelc means 'ewe's milk'. Candlemas is the combination of the words 'candle' and the Scottish 'maes' (feast), a time of celebration and feasting to mark and honor the growing strength of the Sun and the promise of spring to come.

SOUL MATE RITUAL
by Karen Charboneau-Harrison

First, we need to talk about some ethics.... This ritual is designed to help bring a great love to your life. It directly asks the Divine to determine who is best suited to you (and vice versa) and bring them into your life - not to break up someone else's relationship so that you can have your whim, or to bind a specific individual who you have in mind to you in love. Those types of actions are unethical because they thwart the free will of other people for your personal gain. Besides, you don't really know as clearly as the Divine who will be best suited for you - you are judging on looks, money, sexiness or whatever mundane quality and that quality is not the one that necessarily helps to create a relationship that will last for life (or many lifetimes). For this ritual, you must be ready to accept what the Divine brings you and you must be ready for REAL love in your life.

COMMUNICATING LOVE AFTER SEX
by Olivia,
(Reprinted by permission from Llewellyn Publications)

Whether you are just falling in love or you're a newlywed who still hasn't come down to earth after the honeymoon, it's essential to learn the fine art of communication.

Many times when lovers hear how important communication is in keeping love alive, their eyes glaze over. They seem to think communication is simply not sexy. Oh, how wrong they are! When you do it right, the rewards are definitely sexy. Good communication leads to a feeling of security with each other, which leads to a feeling of belonging to each other, which leads straight to the bedroom.

EROTIC DANCE: A SPONTANEOUS ACT OF MAGIC
by Mabel Iam, From the Witch's Well Magickal Archive

Erotic dancing is a spontaneous act of seduction, as natural as a bird's love call.

Dance is one of the most ancient forms of communication and expression. It is even older than spoken language. Where words sometimes hide deeper truths that only the body can guess at, dance brings humans closer to nature. Dance brings us closer to the animal kingdom, to mammals, to birds, to insects, to fish - all of which dance with the specific goals of mating, signaling danger, locating food, or fighting over territory.

Dance is not only a source of physical pleasure. It also soothes the mind as it openly expresses feelings and ideas. As a matter of fact, people in some cultures dance until they fall into a trance or alter their state of consciousness. Shamans in some tribes, for example, dance around in a trance to heal mental and physical ailments in others.

THE SACRED ART OF BELLYDANCE
by Amber Zeta

"Come sit next to me. I'd like to teach you an ancient craft. Now draw a dot and concentrate all your energy into the dot. It is the beginning and the end, the navel of the world... When you whirl or circle your pelvis, you are drawing the dot, the origins. From this shape all other movements are born-they all stem from this dot, from the navel in your belly." Grandmother Fawzia Grandmother's Secrets: Ancient Rituals and Healing Power of Belly Dance by Rosina-Fawzia Al-Rawi.

Her hips sway back and forth, calling your attention to her feminine form. She dips her hip and spins, her veil flying around her. Her belly undulates and her arms snake up and down, whispering the ancient worship, the oldest religions. Imagine a time when women were honored, where women were revered as life givers, wisdoms bearers, and nurturing healers. Women were proud of their sexuality and their sensual nature was sacred, seen as the essence of fertility and life sustaining energy. In her womb, children are formed. Through her body, life is renewed. Without her, life would end. Her body was a temple. Once, we worshiped the large robust woman, heavy with flesh and curves. Women longed to be her, praying for the plump soft body of the Goddess, praying for the land and their own bodies to keep the races alive.
